installer of MyEclipse 4.0.1 halted just after it finished extract all the files from installer. it displays a grey background dialog without any button on it. it seems the install anywhere does not work on my system.

any clue that I can find? what log files should I check?

the problem solved! I can use the manual install version.

The problem is likely due to the installer selecting an incompatible JRE to
run with. Rather than trying to figure out specifically what’s wrong, the
fastest way to a working installation is to simply download and install
using the manual installation archive that’s also available in the downloads
section of the website. Manual installation instructions are available on
the portal here:

So, you’ve already discovered the best course of action. 🙂
