I downloaded MyEclipse 4.0.2, but it hangs when I click Install after answering all the prompts. I had the same problem trying to install 4.0.1 again.

I’ve tried various options (differnt MyEclipse directory, different group), but it won’t install.

All this happened when I installed Eclipse 3.1.1 overtop of my Eclipse 3.1 directory (though I can’t be sure this is the culprit).

    How do I fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

    M,

I’d suggest a fresh 3.1.1 installation and installing ME 4.0.2 such that it points to that new installation. Unzipping one Eclipse install on top of another has caused issues. Sometime restarting with -clean will fix them (eclipse.exe -clean) other times not. A new install, while a “big hammer”, will work.

    Mork,
Why are you having this string of bad luck since last week suddenly? Maybe it’s karma… you should try and help an elderly neighbor and see if the installation problems suddenly disappear 😉

Nope, installing a fresh 3.1.1 wasn’t the problem. It appears that MyEclipse was.

I had several versions of MyEclipse installed (according to Windows add/remove programs applet). Trying to remove any of them (the correct way — though add/remove programs) *failed* with a “java.lang.OutOfMemoryError”.

So, I had to manually delete the MyEclipse directory (after first saving all my preferences — good thing I know to do this… 🙁 )

    Finally, the 4.0.2 install worked.

I’ll test the 4.0, 4.01 (4.0.2?) JSP designer bug that turns combos into fully expanded/selected edit boxes as soon as I restore my environment.

    Thanks for your replies.
