I will apologize in advance as this seems like a very basic question, but I have searched google for several hours to no avail and done a few searches here – so any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I go to the Outline View and select a method (for instance), the text editor will display only that method – no other section of the file is shown any more.

I really would like to have the whole file still be shown in the editor, with the cursor at the first line of the method I have selected in the Outline View. I thought this used to be how my eclipse behaved, but I have tried restoring the defaults in all my Preferences->Editor windows, again, to no avail.

Obviously this isn’t critical, but I find it to be a nuisance, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Rossotti,

Quite a few people have this problem, and why it’s happening isn’t entirely obvious so no problem asking here.

I think you have the “Show Source of Selected Element Only” toggle button on your toolbar selected. Check the main eclipse toolbar for this button, it is usually next to the “Toggle Mark Occurrences” button. Deselect it and you should be fine.

Let us know if it still doesn’t work and what editor you’re referring to.

    Best,
    Brian.

    Brian,
That was exactly the problem I was having, and your solution resolved it!
    Thank you very much.
