I use the “Add/Remove Project Deployments”/”Manage Deployments” function to deploy my EAR files. I deploy the EAR to a directory on my hard drive and then send the EAR to my AS/400 Websphere server via FTP where I do the actual installation.

When I’m finished sending the EAR to its final destination, I delete it from the the folder on my hard drive in which it was created.

Doing this, however, causes the entry in the “Manage Deployments” window to disappear on my next restart of MyEclipse. If I do not delete the EAR file, the entry in the “Manage Deployments” window remains.

Is there any way that you guys can change the behavior of the “Manage Deployments” window to keep the deployment available, even if the target file has been deleted?

    Thanks,
    Curt

    Curt,
If you are open to changing your operating procedure, what aboutjust keeping the server view open, and just right clicking and removing the deployment and managing everything from there with no dialog boxes? It streamlines deployment management quite a bit we think.l

That being said, if you absolutely have to have this feature, I can certainly ask our deployment guy if it’s not too much of a hassle to sneak it in (if he thinks it’s quick/easy).

    Hey, Riyad!

Unfortunately, the “Servers” tab option has the same problems as the “Manage Deployment” dialog: when I delete the EAR file from the target directory and restart MyEclipse, the deployment entry disappears.

I’m deleting the EAR file from the target directory because I don’t want to upload all of my EARs every time I do my FTP to the server. (I send the entire directory using mput.)

So if you could check with the deployment guy, I’d appreciate it. If he needs to contact me offline, my e-mail address should be in my profile.

    Thanks,
    Curt

I asked, he said it’s not a walk in the park but to go ahead and assign it to him and he will see if his work load can be moved around to add it. Fingers crossed.
