[Closed] Subscription code problems – already expired??

    Hi,

    I have just purchased a licence, but am having problems when attempting to enter my subscription code.

    I’m running eclipse v3.0.1, and MyEclipse v3.8.4+QF2, on Gentoo Linux. When I enter my subscriber ID (fisherm), and the code, I get the following error message:

    “Error — The entered subscription code has already expired.”

    The following licence information is displayed:
    Subscriber: fisherm
    Product ID: E3MP
    License version: 3.0
    Number of licenses: 1
    Full Maintenance Included
    Subscription expiration date (YYYYMMDD): 20061014

    … which all looks good – so why do I get the expiry error?

    My system date shows:

    mike@mike ~ $ date
    Fri Oct 14 12:26:19 BST 2005

    Mike,

    In order to support the new Pro featureset of MyEclipse 4.0, we had to make changes to the license manager in the product. The result of that is that older versions of the product can’t recognize the new keys properly. However, we released an update for 3.8.4 users that only corrects this issue. You can upgrade to MyEclipse 3.8.5 to resolve this by following the instructions here:

    I just had this problem. Rather strange it is not explained in the Release Notes of 3.8.4: if the rest of your product is managed the same way…

    The reason it’s not in the 3.8.4 release notes is that the problem did not occur until the third milestone release of 4.0 where we first introduced the Pro level of the product. So it’s more of a “forward compatibility” issue that we didn’t know about when the 3.8.4 release notes were written several months prior.
