fury88MemberI’ve upgraded to the latest MyEclipse and Eclipse 3.2.1 versions but unfortunately I need to deploy on Websphere 5.1 since our company has not yet approved Websphere 6. I do not see the connector here so I was wondering if this is even possible with these versions. I hope so because they are so nice! 🙂
Is there anyway I can get a connector for Websphere 5.1 with the latest versions?

Riyad KallaMemberI believe the WebSphere 5 connector works for 5.1, have you tried that?

fury88MemberActually, when I try to create a New Server instance, there is only Websphere 6.0 listed. If I try to download additional instances it only shows the Websphere community edition. I am sorry if I missing something.

Riyad KallaMemberI think you may be actually confusing WTP (Web Tools Project) with MyEclipse. The MyEclipse connectors are all under Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > Application Servers. To farmiliarize yourself with our connectors, you could quickly glance through our guide here for help: http://www.myeclipseide.com/images/tutorials/quickstarts/appservers/

fury88MemberOk you are correct but regardless I am unable to create a Websphere 5.1 instance in the Server perspective.

Riyad KallaMemberCan you post a screenshot of what you are having trouble with, or PM it to me with a link to this thread? The reason I ask is because there is no Server perspective (unless you mean the view?) in MyEclipse and I just want to nail down if there is a criss-cross of products here, or if we are on the same page before we start troubleshooting.

Riyad KallaMemberMatt,
Thanks for the clarification and screenshots. This is what I had a feeling might be happening but you have both WTP and MyEclipse installed. You are configuring WebSphere using MyEclipe, and then loading up WTP and trying to configure a connector for it. Two different products.I really think you’d be best served by taking 5 mins and just reading through the app server guide I linked to earlier: http://www.myeclipseide.com/images/tutorials/quickstarts/appservers/
You need to use the toolbar buttons that belong to MyEclipse to run the app server after you have configured it. If you keep having problems let me know.

fury88MemberThat link is golden. Thanks. I totally missed which view I was looking at. I knew it was something simple but the first time I read through it I did not see that.
Can I apply that Webphere 6 section to Websphere 5.1? I’ll try that just in case. Otherwise I think I am all set now but if I have any more issues should I reply to this topic or PM you?November 1, 2006 at 2:59 pm #261219
Riyad KallaMemberSetting up WebSphere 6 can be a bit more complicated (6.1 is fairly straight forward like 5) but if you ever need reference, just use our “what does XYZ connector look like when configured?” FAQ entries like this:
WAS 6.0: http://www.myeclipseide.com/PNphpBB2+file-viewtopic-t-13944.html
WAS 6.1: http://www.myeclipseide.com/PNphpBB2+file-viewtopic-t-13943.htmlNovember 1, 2006 at 3:14 pm #261223
fury88MemberOk. I am trying to set up Websphere 5.1 though so I was wondering if it was similar to Websphere 6 but I’ll check those topics. 🙂

Riyad KallaMemberOh those are just for quick reference, and yes they are all very similar.
