JBuilder Enterprise 2006 came out. And I KNOW you guys are NOT Borland and you guys do a GREAT job with MyEclipse.. But I’m going to throw this request up for a collaboration feature in MyEclipse. I think it would be a great boost to productivity for Ecilpse users *and* for the MyEclipse developers in particular. Feel free to pick and chose what could be done.. or call me crazy… 🙂

    – Automatic discovery of peers on your network for project collaboration
    – Save instant messaging (IM) chat conversations in logs
    – Chat preferences include audio notifications, color coding for types of messages,
    and availability status
    – API to enable integration with third-party IM clients
    – Integration with Googleâ„¢ Talk IM (via Jabber, of course)
    – Send stack to peers with class references hyperlinked to the containing files
    – Share projects and files with peers in your network
    – Add or remove peers to an existing collaboration session
    – Share token with members in the collaboration session to control services such as
    shared editing and debugging
    – Follow mode for in-step shared collaboration and editing of shared projects
    – Browse mode for independent perusing of shared projects
    – Send VCS configuration information to peers
    – Shared debugging and editing
    – Remote peer access for Wide Area Network (WAN)
    – Contact management for creating groups

    Dave,

Interesting you mentioned this. We saw that JBuilder recently added some of this, but were really wondering if people would really use something integrated over what they’re doing today. Thanks for the feedback. Anyone else?

Well, let me put it to you this way.. from my own POV… if I had other jbuilder users I was working with I would *certainly* be using it right now…

Do you mean like a Remote Desktop type of deal through MyEclipse? That would be great. I telecommute 3 days a week and if i could remote control someone’s MyEclipse installation, well that would be wicked pissa!

It really means that you can, via a WAN, still collaborate. Usually this is accomplished via some slight-of-hand over the JABBER network.

Apparently either Java Studio Creator or Java Enterprise Studio from Sun is also doing this now.
