We develop using an MyEclipse for Java. We deploy to several application server–one is WebLogic. We would like developers to test their code using a community edition of WebLogic to ensure they are okay with the coding and deployment before they move the code into the repository. A WebLogic community edition needs to support Web Services, Database Connectivity, and JMS. We are a small company and can not afford putting WebLogic, the full version, on every developer’s desktop; therfore, the community edition would be best. Most of the developers prefer the IDE we have chosen and would not like to learn WebLogic’s workbench.

Is anyone else doing this? Do you have any suggestions on keeping the peace in the family?

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my post.

Russ which IDE are you using? If it is MyEclipse, what support are you lacking specifically that you have tried that doesn’t work? (If you aren’t using ME, scratch that)

We are using MyEclipse (well some of use are). We like the product because it easily connects to the different servers we use. Wow, that’s a first in IDE–connectivity to all the major application servers in one tool. Hooking up the server requires us to point the tool to the server. We have been successful with JBoss. We think WebSphere Community edition will solve our issue involving WebSphere, but we find no similar version for WebLogic. This is my question.
