I have two copies of the same projects, one I created a while back and an new one with the same source code. Just trying to formalize the folder structures better. So same source code. I need to prepend some 3rd party jars on the the weblogic 9 connector class path by going to Window-Preference-MyEclipse— Weblogic9-classpaths. This usually worked fine in older versions. After adding the jars there, weblogic still cannot find the classes that reside in the 3rd party jars. I look at the old project and it is set up exactly the same and works fine. So it appears myeclipse is not setting the class path correctly for weblogic startup. One thing I notice is I can go to the Launch section and choose Create Launch Configuration. If I look at the one that is working, I will see my jars under User Entries. If I go to the project that is not working and go to the same section, I can not see the jars I just added even though they show up on the other section. I can try to add them manually here in Launch configuration and click to leave. It asks me to save and I choose yes but once I come back, it did not save. I am at a lost, any help would be much appreciated. I thought at first maybe one of the configuration files was right projected and it could not save it correctly but I made sure that all folders were not right protected.

You mentioned having two projects. 1 that works and 1 that doesn’t. Is this all with the same version of MyEclipse and WebLogic, or two separate setups? Are you launching both using the some connector or are you using 1 custom launch configuration and one connector?

I’m just not clear on why one is working and one isn’t, and what the differences in the setups are.

I am using the same version of MyEclipse. Here is the whole scoop. First I created projects in an older version of MyEclipse but the version did not work with Weblogic 9.2. I upgraded to a newer version 5.5.1 that did and everything is fine. I simply go into Window-Preference-MyEclipse-applications-weblogic 9 to set it up. I use the class path tab there usually to setup any 3rd party jars I may need. This usually works. This project continues to work fine. I did not like the folder structures etc of how I had my project setup. I needed to make it a little bit cleaner before we used the project, so I created a newer empty project and copied the source code over to it. Started from scratch. Now when I setup the prepend classpath again, it does not appear to work correctly. I basically took the same project using the same myeclipse verison and weblogic and recreated it from scratch the same way I originally created it from scratch. This second project does not work correctly. I have tried countless times to start from scratch and nogo. I was just saying in passing that it looks weird that when I go to the launch configuratoin of my old project that under User Entries it has the Jars, I added to the classpath tab of weblogic 9 setup screens in myeclipse. This is the project that works, I assume when I add the jars to the tab that it also hads it to the launch configuartion. If I look at the project that does not work, the jars are correctly added to the classpath tab under weblogic 9 but if I go to the launch configuaration button and look under user entries they were not automatically put there too. So this points in my mind to some sort of corruption, somthing did not get saved correctly. I try to manually add them there and I can and it asks me to save but it does not save, when I come back they are not there.

Hope this makes it a little clearer. I am at a lost and at this point banging my head against the wall. 🙂 your help is much appreciated.

Ok thank you for the clarification. One thing I want to point out is that your application server connector settings under Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > Application Servers are global, to all projects. They are not project-specific.

There is actually not a way to configure a conncector on a per-project basis. So if the connection configuration worked for Project #1, it should work for Project #2 and you shouldn’t need to change it at all.

What you mentioned about the Custom Launch configuration is indeed strange though.

Out of curiosity what is the failure that the 2nd project is having exactly? What exception (if any?)

Thanks for the quick reply. That makes sense. I thought it was global and not project specific but when I create a new workspace, the settings are lost under Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > Application Servers. Let me test it out. Yep, I just created a folder called workspace, I opened MyEclipse up pointing to that folder. So I end up with a new blank workspace, I go to Window > Preferences > MyEclipse > Application Servers and the weblogic settings for 9 that were there before are gone. It is not staying around, it is not acting as a global setting. The error I get is class not found for a give class in one of the 3rd party jars, very familar error with anyone who is used to having to prepend certain libraries to weblogic.

Sorry, I misunderstood your statement about across projects. Yes, I understand the setting is across projects within a given workspace. I have been using the wrong terminology. So sorry. I am creating two workspaces. The first workspace with my projects works correctly, the new workspace with the same projects recreated and cleaned up does not work correctly. The settings do not appear to be global across workspaces just projects. So I mislead you there. So I have tried recreating several workspaces with my projects in it from scratch just as I created the original workspace and projects and any new worspace will not work correctly in this area. Oh, yes you are right. It’s workspace-scoped settings. I was misusing the word “global”

Can you go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details and paste the information for me here? I cannot reproduce a classpath issue with the WebLogic 9 connector at this moment on my machine and I want to know if something is idfferent about our setups.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Just flew back to states and back to work. Still having the problem Created a workspace from scratch few minutes back to make sure. Same symptoms. I should mention, that this happens on every developers box. Over 10 people. I am at a loss. Data requested is below.

After sending the above message, I started looking at what is different between my workspace that works and the one that does not. The only thing I setup different is the workspace paths. The path has items with spaces and dashes (Above) in it when the other one is simple c:\development\dragon\ims_src . I copied the newly created workspace projects over to a new workspace c:\test\src. I removed the jars in weblogic prepend classpath to point to this new folder path. I go to the launch configuartion button and my jars now show up under user-entries. I deploy and it works. This definitely appears to be a problem with saving settings correctly, completely when the folder structure contains dashes or spaces perhaps. It works correctly now. I will setup one final workspace tomorrow having the names I want but with spaces and dashes and see if it works. I am betting it will.

Thank you for the heads up. The workspace I was trying this with had lots of spaces in it (C:\Documents and Settings\Riyad\My Documents\My Development\MyEclipse\testwl-workspace) but no dashes… what were the names of your dirs you were using? I’ll try and reproduce exactly that locally.
