    Hi,

We are using MyEclipse Blue 9.1 and need to install multiple plugins for SVN, GWT, etc

Since we access MyEclipse remotely we are facing certain firewall issues with regards to installing plugins using Configuration Center. So we tried the other options given below.

[2] I tried the other option of dropping the required features and plugins to dropins folder – MyEclipse > dropins. But it seems that it is not working too.

[3] I tried the third option of copying all the features and plugins from a working MyEclipse copy to our machine’s MyEclipse. But no luck in that too.

Could you please provide a solution which is close to 2nd or 3rd options tried above if possible which would be very easy for us to configure.

    Thanks!!

    d_folk,

If you are behind firewall/proxy, please set up the same here –
Open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on window > preferences > general > network connections and enter firewall details.

Since we access MyEclipse remotely we are facing certain firewall issues with regards to installing plugins using Configuration Center.

Could you elaborate what are the issues you are facing? Clear your .log file located at [your workspace dir]/.metadata/.log, replicate the issues and attach here. Also attach screenshot to help me get a visual.

[2] I tried the other option of dropping the required features and plugins to dropins folder – MyEclipse > dropins. But it seems that it is not working too.

What is the issue you are facing? In case you have plugins and features, please ensure you copy the plugins to [MyEclipse installation dir]/dropins/plugins(Check if the plugins folder is already not created, please create one and copy the plugins); similarly features should be copied [MyEclipse Installation dir] /dropins/features(In case features folder is not already present, you need to create the same). Next restart your IDE. MyEclipse would prompt you about the changes such as additions/deletions of plugins via dropins. In case this is still an issue, please attach screenshot showing the plugins and features added to dropins as well as the issue you are facing.

[3] I tried the third option of copying all the features and plugins from a working MyEclipse copy to our machine’s MyEclipse. But no luck in that too.

Have you verified that the plugins you have copied to MyEclipse Blue 9.1 profile are compatible with Eclipse Helios ? What is the issue you are facing here? Please elaborate and attach screenshots.

    You could try using pulse.
    1. Download pulse from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
    2. Login to pulse
    3. Select “Eclipse – Helios” realm from top left hand corner dropdown
    4. Expand and click on – Ready to use Profiles > Popular. Select MyEclipse Blue 9.1 from the right hand pane and click on [run] or [install]
    5. Your profile gets added to “My Profiles”
    6. Select your MyEclipse Blue profile under MyProfiles and go to Software tab and add your plugins – SVN, GWT, etc
    7. Next select the Collaboration tab and share with Team.
    8. From your remote system, you could use this team share to access this MyEclipse Blue profile

Let me know how this works for you.
