My Data Explorer perspective won’t come up.

    1. I installed a fresh Eclipse 3.0.1

    2. I uninstalled MyEclipse 3.8.1

    3. I created a new workspace directory, and copied all the files from my old workspace including “.metadata” to the new workspace directory.

    4. Started and exited Eclipse

    5. Installed MyEclipse 3.8.2

    6. Basic myeclipse functionaly seems to be working fine.

But I got an error trying to open the data explorer perspective. Forgot to write it down. Now I don’t get an error, but it doesn’t go into the perspective either.

Can I just delete the “.metedata” directory or something like that?

    Lee,
We would suggest first shutting down Eclipse, then erasing the /configuration dir, then start it up again and re-add the MyEclipse xtension point via the Help > Software updates > Manage configs screen, then restart. Does it work now?

    That unfortunately didn’t work.

When I deleted the configuration directory and reran eclipse — MyEclipse is still active. I went to the Manage configs screen, disabled and renabled — but still no dice.

I would try creating a brand new workspace, then immediately try and open the db explorer and see if it works, if it does, then slowly try and reimport your projects back into the new workspace… something must have gotten borked…

FYI, erasing the .metadata directory is effectively like creating a new workspace, so maybe just creating one is more straight forward.

    Got it back.

    1. Shut down eclipse
    2. Uninstall MyEclipse
    3. Open and shut down eclipse
    4. Reinstall MyEclipse

    problem solved.

    wierd.
