    Hi,

I’ve installed Eclipse 3.2, and did the manual install of MyEclipseIDE 5.0GA.
    Platform is (Gentoo) Linux.

I’ve downloaded the Mario test project, and followed the instructions in the tutorial.
Features like content-assistence, outline view and validation are working as in the tutorial.

When I try to debug the runMario.html file, the option Javascript application does not appear in the Debug As context menu (it says : none available)
Anything else I need to do ?

    thanks a lot.

    Here’s my configuration :

Select the runmario.html file and then click on “Run > Debug…” menu item. When the debug launch configuration dialog comes up you should have a Debug configuration type on the left for “JavaScript Application”. If you do, select it and press the “new” button which should create a new javascript application configuration and it should have the runmario.html auto configured.

If you don’t see the JavaScript Application on the left, then let us know as there is likely a problem with your installation.

Run -> Debug does not show up a JavaScript application configuration type.
Is there any log file that I can send ?

    thanks

Can you post your Installation Details, go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary and then click “Installation Details”. Post the contents here and also click on “View Error Log” and post the contents here as well.

Here’s the error log. The errors occur when trying to open the runMario.html file using the visual html editor (if I’m right that’s an eclipse bug for which myeclipseide has given a workaround) :

Ahh, the problem is you need to restart once with “-clean” argument for eclipse. That will fix the NoClassDefFound errors. And after that everything should work as expected.

    #256609 Reply

    bad luck 😥

maybe there are two problems at once : the bug about the conflict between the internal web browser and the MyEclipseIDE visual html editor, and the fact that JavaScript does not appear as a possible debug configuration.

    I’ve done some steps :
    I created a script eclipse-3.2-bugfix containing :
    export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=””
    eclipse-3.2 -clean

and I cleared the workspace/.metadata/.log file

    1. start eclipse in clean mode : eclipse-3.2 -clean
1a. error log after startup :

There doesn’t seem to be much difference.
In none of the cases, the JavaScript Application configuration mode is available.

    A possible breakthrough :
the workspace that I imported the jsMario project into, was created or used with a version prior to Eclipse 3.2 or MyEclipse 5.0GA.

I’ve created a different workspace now, and reimported the test project. Now the debug as Javascript Application IS available.
I think that I can go on like this, importing existing projects into this new workspace. However, is this correct behaviour ?

    thanks,

Even in this new workspace, I still have problems getting the debug to work.
Yes, the JavaScript Application is now available as part of the debug as context menu. But now, I get the remark

The requested feature is not available because it conflicts with the internal web browser. Please read the technical notice …

I followed the steps from that technical notice. I even made a general environment variable MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=””, to be sure.
I enabled firefox as default browser (disabled the internal web browser)

But I still get the same notice, and the following stack trace in the log file :

Restarting eclipse with “eclipse -clean” is the only way to fix that problem. If that doesn’t work, you will have to install a brand new eclpse 3.2, and then install MyEclipse first before you ever start up the new Eclipse install. Then you shouldn’t have problems with the NoClassDefFound error.

    #256633 Reply

As you suggested, I did a clean install of eclipse (not the one from gentoo).
I couldn’t install myeclipseide without first running eclipse, because I had to use the manual installation procedure.

But now things are working properly.
As a tip for gentoo users : do not use the gentoo package, but just download eclipse and install it yourself.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.
