-Mik-MemberI need to deploy my .war file to a distant server over the network for various reasons. Does MyEclipse support such endeavor?
On the targeted server runs Tomcat 4.1.24 , PostgreSQL 7.2.1 and J2SE 1.4.1_03.
Thanks in advance. 🙂May 24, 2005 at 8:50 am #230079
Scott AndersonParticipantMik,
Remote debugging and deployment is covered in our Remote Debugging Quickstart. It’s available in the MyEclipse Application Developer Guide in the application at Help > Help Contents > MyEclipse Application Developer Guide and on the website directly in the documentation section here:

-Mik-MemberThanks for the hint 🙂
But now I have another problem… The server os is Redhat 7.3 and therefore I have problems accessing the deployment directory. 😕
Can this problem be solved somehow?May 25, 2005 at 7:57 am #230123
Scott AndersonParticipantRedhat, and all Linux’s, support the ability to set up a virtual file system for remote mounting using a
network file system. I don’t have the specifics, but it’s certainly possible. Also, remember that Windows
can set up a drive with other protocols, such as ftp:// so you could set up a “drive” in Windows that ftp’d
into a specific location as well.June 8, 2005 at 1:05 am #230739
-Mik-MemberI finaly managed to set up a FTP server and map the network drive but it doesnt work…
Even if MyEclipse reports: “successfully deployed” it didnt do anything at all. No idea why…If I enter the deploy location it runs like this:
Exploded
Deploy Location: “c:\Documents and Settings\base”
gets:
“C:\Documents and Settings\fhuebne\NetHood\137.189.94.120base”
but even if I change it to
“C:\Documents and Settings\fhuebne\NetHood\137.189.94.120\base”
it doesnt workthe same with:
Packaged:
“c:\Documents and Settings\base.war”
gets:
“C:\Documents and Settings\fhuebne\NetHood\137.189.94.120base”
but also this
“C:\Documents and Settings\fhuebne\NetHood\137.189.94.120\base.war”
doesnt workWhat can I do?

-Mik-MemberNobody has a clue about this? 🙁

Riyad KallaMemberDid you check your FTP server permissions? For example it likely won’t allow write access by default, so while you were able to successfully login, it cannot write the file out.

-Mik-MemberI have full writing and editing permissions with this ftp account…

Can you simply copy and paste files on the mounted “ftp drive” just like your normal hard disk?
June 15, 2005 at 3:36 am #231092
-Mik-MemberYes, without problems…

Scott AndersonParticipantMik,
This must be a new problem so I’ve opened a problem report to investigate it internally. Sorry for the problem.
As a workaround, I’d suggest that you deploy somewhere locally and then run a script (shell or Ant) to copy the deployment to the
FTP drive. I know that’s not optimal, but it should keep you moving while we look into it further. -
