I’m used to doing ANT builds and specifying different targets for compiling, packaging and deploying web apps to different environments (dev, test, prd)…

I’ve recently inherited a project which has been using the myEclipse IDE for deployments and simply deploys everything in the project directory to a .war file for deployment to BEA. To change configuration information, such as JDBC connection pools, and Servlet URL’s, they are currently modifying the web.xml file each time and redeploying to a new .war file, using the IDE.

Are there any best practices or recommendations for doing builds and deploys to different envionrments from myEclipse? I’ve used the tool for about a week now, so am just coming up to speed, but any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Todd

    Todd,
We are doing work to better suite dynamic environments for 5.0, but currently MyEclipse is really focused on development and deployment against a single app server on the local machine. If you need to constantly be changing the descriptor and redeploying there isn’t any automation to help these steps currently.
