MyEclipse,
I’m currently deciding whether or not to switch to MyEclipse from NetBeans. There are a great many things I really like about your IDE, particularly the ease with which I can switch J2EE containers. There is one huge problem I’m finding though: your tutorials. While I think you do a good job in your documentation tutorials I was extremely excited about learning MyEclipse’s capabilities through Don Fair’s walk throughs. Unfortunately, I became frustrated by the fact that these tutorials cover versions of MyEclipse, MySQL, Weblogic, etc that are old and are not defined at the beginning of the tutorial. The outcome is that they become next to worthless if not an outright turn off to MyEclipse. I’m simply trying to learn MyEclipse’s feature set through these tutorials, I can’t imagine what it would be like for a newbie trying to understand J2EE through them. My suggestion is to either update them to cover the latest versions of MyEclipse/Weblogic or get rid of them altogether. You guys have a “great product”, but if you aren’t explaining that product very well to the end user, they will give up on it.
Thanks,
Stephen Johnson
