Is the Eclipse 3.1 line supported?

I’ve just intsalled Eclipse 3.1 M4, but I’m have problems setting breakpoints in the debugger. I noticed in the log that I have the following two lines which were slightly concerning:

    !SUBENTRY 1 org.eclipse.debug.ui 1 1 2004-12-18 20:00:24.431
!MESSAGE This plug-in (located at “e:\eclipseV31M4\plugins\org.eclipse.debug.ui_3.1.0”) was ignored because another version of the same plug-in (located at “e:\Program Files\MyEclipse\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.debug.ui_3.7.200”) was picked
    !SUBENTRY 1 org.eclipse.jdt.debug 1 1 2004-12-18 20:00:24.431
!MESSAGE This plug-in (located at “e:\eclipseV31M4\plugins\org.eclipse.jdt.debug_3.1.0”) was ignored because another version of the same plug-in (located at “e:\Program Files\MyEclipse\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.jdt.debug_3.7.200”) was picked

Can I copy these two M4 plugin to the myeclipse directory or will this cause other problems.

    Thanks,

    John.

OK, I’ve done a bit more digging.

The manual install gets me closer as it doesn’t duplicate the debug plugins and I can set breakpoints OK. However the MyEclipse perspective is not listed and the run appserver menu button is missing. So I guess the best solution is to maintain two copies of Eclipse as we really do need both the Java 1.5 support and MyEclipse.

    John,

Eclipse 3.1 is not currently supported. I think you’ll find that Eclipse 3.0.1 will work very well for you. There’s more information on the timeline for supporting Eclipse 3.1 in this thread:
