Hi,

today I updated my Eclipse to 3.3 and MyEclipse to 6.0; however, since the Update I kep running into some Problem; during Forum-Search I didn’t find anything, I hope I didn’t overlook sthg. The Problem occurs on a Windows-XP-Pro Machine.

– Installed Eclipse 3.3 into a fresh Directory (d:\Eclipse_3.3).
– Deinstalled MyEclipse 5.5.
– Renamed the .metadata Directory in my Workspace to .metadata_old
– Started-up Eclipse 3.3 to see if it starts-up. Was OK, so I closed it.
– installed MyEclipse 6.0 into d:\Programme\MyEclipse 6.0.0 M1.
– Started Eclipse 3.3 again
– MyEclipse asked me to restart the IDE – as usual after a fresh install. Did that.
– Eclipse started-up ok.
– Tried to add a update-location for Log4E (http://log4e.jayefem.de/update).
– Got an error-dialog (unfortunately not-cnp-capable)
“Duplicate Conflicts”
Listing some MyEclipse Features and below the Install-Locations; one of these is the MyEclipse-Directory, the other the Eclipse 3.3-Dir
(As mentioned, that Dialog does not allow to CnP, so I’ll just list the top few entries):

Ralf,

The problem you’re having is that you started with more than just the Eclipse 3.3 SDK as it looks like you had previously installed
WTP and potentionially other things from Europa as well and that is causing duplication conflicts since we ship all projects
upon which MyEclipse depends.

The best way to get a working MyEclipse 6.0M1 installation is to download and use our “all-in-one” installer as it includes both
the Eclipse 3.3 SDK and MyEclipse + all prerequisites. Once installed you shouldn’t have any problems.

Alternatively, if you want to use the “add-on” or “plugin” installer which is seems you already have downloaded, it should be
installed to point to *only* an Eclipse 3.3 SDK installation. That will also work, but the all-in-one installer is a bit easier and includes the SNAPs so you can use just the HTML editor, or just the XML editor, for example.

thank you very much for the quick response! I will give the “all-in-one” Package a try (normally I run Eclipse on FreeBSD and Linux and was not really used to that “all-in-one” ;-).
