Trying to use the configuration center to add EclipseNSIS plugin. Never had problem before this new configuration center. I added the personal site: http://eclipsensis.sf.net/update

The center found/discovered the normal update modules, but during installation assumes authentication for the site is required. There is NONE. However, the configuration prompts and re-prompts and continues to prompt (3 times?) until it cancels the installation due to invalid authentication. Authentication is NOT required for this update site….why is the configuration assuming otherwise?

OK….. so I want to “forget about the NSIS” installation. But now I cannot remove the EclipseNSIS update, nor can I update any other plugin.

How do I tell the myEclipse configuration center that authentication is not needed…..

    OR…better yet….

How do I reset to a clean configuration profile, getting rid of the NSIS Eclipse update option so I can load other plugins?

PS…I don’t like this new configuration center at all!

I restared wtih -clean and now the remove button ( big red x) is enabled. So I now can tell the myEclipse to “forget” about this site and its plugin.

But still have the issue that configuration center assumes that authentication is necessary for eclipsensis.sf.net

    mhiggs,

I couldn’t reproduce the said issue. I was able to install EclipseNSIS plugin on eclipse 3.5.2 classic and also on ME 8.5.

But still have the issue that configuration center assumes that authentication is necessary for eclipsensis.sf.net

Are you referring to the license agreement? If yes, this is part of the plugin, you need to agree to the software license agreement before you can install the same on you IDE – Eclipse / ME.

I am currently experiencing the issue with trying to install the plugin. AFTER I agree to the license and the application is done optimizing mirrors, now in the process of Fetching the software, it stops and pops up four messageboxes requesting username and password as described previously.

Has anyone found a fix to this as of yet?

UPDATE: after attempting to install again and being told the changes were being rolled back. I tried to install from a local folder instead but now eclipse is telling me that NSIS is already installed. Yet when I close and open myeclipse, it is still waiting to install the plugin.

Workaround. restarted myeclipse. Deleted any references to NSIS plugin in software tab of configuration center. added new site-> local dir where plugin was downloaded & unzipped. Installed – no pop ups asking for uname or password. done. very frustrating experience.

Tried the install one library at a time (should have done this yesterday, but I wasn’t thinking clearly when I was trying to tackle this). the base NSIS package does install without any issues. I had problems trying to install the InstallOptions Editor and the Utilities libraries. They seem to be generating the boxes looking for user names and passwords.

I was able to generate a fully working install script and test it, so as long as one doesn’t need the extra libraries then installing NSIS through the package manager does work.

Hope my experience is helpful to others in avoiding the issues I was seeing yesterday.
