When trying to start the editor for the struts-config.xml file, th following message is displayed (popup) “Unsupported content type in editor”. In the pane where the file should be displayed, the following text is dipalyed: “Unable to create this part due to an internal error. Reason for the failure: An unexpected exception was thrown”.

I just helped a user through what I believe was the identical problem and it was because XML Buddy was claiming the XML reference even when trying to open the struts-config.xml file with the designer.

Can you temporarily uninstall XML Buddy and restart and try again to open your file?
