Scott AndersonParticipantDerek,
As you’ve noted, you can keep both a Carbon and Cocoa installation on the same machine and manage them easily with Pulse. This at least gives you the ability to switch over to the carbon version when you want to use the visual HTML editor.
However, we agree that we need to find a new solution to the visual editor under Cocoa. One more question on your usage of that though — do you mainly use just straight HTML and javascript in the visual editor? Or do you use the JSP and tag library features as well? Having a little input on what’s most valuable might help our technology selection process a bit.
Derek CookParticipantHi, Scott
My web needs are pretty plain: HTML and Javascript. Maybe one day I’ll get into something else…..
So my priority call would be on something that supported that now
Scott AndersonParticipantDerek,
That’s actually good to hear as that’s a bit easier than what we have now, and a good first step.
Derek CookParticipantSmall incremental steps is what got man to the moon and allowed him to make the giant leap! 🙂
And remember the ancient Hindu proverb (my golden rule of projects and problems):
An ant can eat an elephant in small chunks.
Tackling the simple first, sure gets my vote!
bcichowlasParticipantFor what it’s worth, I have been seeing the same sort of frustrating problems. I’m using Mountain Lion with a Retina display and am using Carbon (sometime in the past, I remember Carbon being recommended as the one to choose for my situation for some reason, but I’m just about to try the 64-bit Cocoa, which I hope will fix all this).
Great to have the forum here for questions like this.

Scott AndersonParticipantBruce,
I think you’ll find the Cocoa version solves all the issues. I run on a MacBook Pro every day and MyEclipse 10.6 runs great on it.

That’s why we’re here! 🙂

Apart from the visual editors…. 😉
Sorry, couldn’t resist that. 🙂

Derek CookParticipantThank, looking forward to it. 🙂
