After double clicking the installer I receive the following error once the extraction has finished:

    Can’t launch executable.
    Could not create Jave VM.

    Launch Anywhere Error.

If I open a cmd line box and type java -version I get the following response:

    C:\Documents and Settings\jhannon>java -version
    java version “1.4.2_04”
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode)

The installer can be fairly pissy with some setups that we haven’t been able to nail down, if you keep having problems I suggest grabbing the manual install, it is just as easy to install and comes with detailed step-by-step instructions.

I downloaded the “manual build” myeclipse_030804.zip. Could you give me the slightest idea as to where the “installation instructions are within this file? i.e. in which file I can find them?

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

    1) Ok now go create a directory where you want MyEclipse to live, for example C:\MyEclipse-3.8.4. Then unzip that zip file INTO the directory.
    2) Launch Eclipse, go to Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration
    3) Right click, Add > Extension, point to the C:\MyEclipse-3.8.4 (or whatever you chose) directory
    4) Restart when asked

    Viola, all done!

P.S.> There is only 1 HTML file in the root of the ZIP file, those are the instructions… but my massively summarized ones above are probably easier to follow (the ones included walk you through EVERY step, even unzipping it 😉
