Hello Myeclipse forum members,
First of all, I’m sorry about my English. It’s not good very much. My problem is this;
I’d downloaded myeclipse 8.0 to try. Then I clicked to the installer, a window appeared and initialized the installer, then a few minutes after this window disappeared, a got an error:
An unexpected failure occured initializing the installer.
java.lang.NullPointerException

What is the problem do you think?

Can you answer few queries for me to get to the root cause?
1. What is your OS and version?
2. How are you trying to install? Have you downloaded all-in-one installer from the download site / using pulse / archived update site on top of eclipse classic distribution?

I think your installer file is either incomplete / corrupted. I would recommend you do the following –
1. Download the installer file from http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html
2. Please ensure you validate the download size and md5sum of the installer file matches that mentioned in the download site.

Let me know how this works for you.

1. My OS is Windows XP SP2.
2. Yes, I’ve downloaded Myeclipse IDE 8 Classic.

I think the file is not corrupted, because if it was corrupted, I could not open it first.
As I said I can open the installer, it is working but when the process bar in the installer
reaches %100, it shows me the error.

Actually, I haven’t downloaded the Eclipse 3.5.2 Classic. Is the problem causing with it?
But If I download the Eclipse, I will get a zip file. It is not an installer and
it won’t write anything to the Windows Registry. So, the Myeclipse installer can’t realize
that the Eclipse is not installed.

I saw the 8.5 version is released. After that, I’ll download it. I hope that it work.

Thank you for the details. You need not install Eclipse 3.5.2 classic, if you have downloaded the all-in-one installer. In case you want to install ME using archived update site, you would need to install Eclipse Classic.

I saw the 8.5 version is released. After that, I’ll download it. I hope that it work.

Let me know if you still face issue with all-in-one installer for ME 8.5. Please ensure you validate the file download size and md5sum.

Hello everybody,
Eventually I solved the problem and realised that this problem is occuring because of my regional options. I saw an article about this issue on internet. I’m using the Turkish version of Windows and when I changed my formatting options to English (U.S.A.) it’s solved. Now, I’m installing MyEclipse 8.6 Trial.
