hi,
i am using eclipse 3.1 and myeclipse workbecnh 4.0.
but when i am trying to update the new features, using the Help-Software updates option, it shows me an error stating Network connection problems encountered during search.if you can tell me how to rectify it, it would be very nice.

This seems like a network problem to me and is caused by a proxy. You need to set that up under Window > Prefs > Install/Update, at the bottom.
You are using a very old install of Eclipse (3.1) and MyEclipse (4.0), there is no upgrade path available from that version to our current release. While you *can* upgrade to Eclipse 3.1.2 and MyEclipse 4.1.1, he cannot upgrade further.
Also, to upgrade you may need to change the update manager to “Compatability Mode” under Window > Prefs > Install/Update
I suggest you download our full-stack installer and install it.
