mnormandMemberI downloaded the trial version and installed it. When I went to windows / preferences the myeclipse options only presented a desciptive text of what the option does. I subscribed and entered the subscription information and nothing change.
Please help me!

Scott AndersonParticipantThis sounds like an installation problem, rather than a licensing issue. Even in our trial version, all the preferences should be enabled so this tells me that we have an initial configuration issue. One thing that trips people up is that they sometimes don’t download the FULL Eclipse distribution, but only the JDT or platform builds. These won’t work with MyEclipse. However, to help us figure out what’s going on, can you please post all the information we request in the Posting Guidelines thread at the top of this forum? With that, we should be able to quickly figure out what’s going on.

Riyad KallaMemberHmmm,
When you installed the trial, and went to windows->prefs and then clicked on the MyEclipse node, you should have seen that it can be expanded and has the following children:
“Application Servers”
“Editors”
“J2EE”
“Subscription”
“XDoclet”I’m guessing you did because you said you entered your subscription information (on the Subscription node). Now as far as “nothing changing”, nothing SHOULD change… if you had used the trial for more than 30 days, it starts to nag you, by registering you get rid of the nag screen. But it sounds like you were using a fresh install anyway, which probably meant you would see no noticable change. There isn’t anything to “unlock” persay (as I understand it).
If you are looking for the other options of MyEclipse, you’ll notice the nodes I listed above that are under the “MyEclipse” node in the preference tree, can ALL be expanded further (except subscription). After you expand these nodes you can set the detailed functionality of each feature.
If this doesn’t help, can you explain what you see when you expand the MyEclipse node, and how that differs from what you expected to see?

blaplanteMemberDid anyone ever conclude what the problem was with rkalla’s subscription issue. I have a simular issue in that the ok button stops working on windows > preferences when I have visited the myEclipse menu choices. I have eclipse on my machine at home and this is not an isse.
Note: the subscription field is different than my machine at home. The length of the text field is only about 100 chars long instead of spanning the length of the.
New Note: I just click around on all the menu choices in myEclipse under window>preferences and the thing took my subscription and saved it. Also the text entry field expanded to it’s full size.

Scott AndersonParticipantSo, are you still experiencing any problem? If so, can you post the answer to the questions we ask in the Posting Guidelines thread? That will give us a good starting point to help run this down for you.
