I recently download and installed myEclipse 2.7.101 (build ID 200405181900-2.8-Beta1) for Eclipse 2.1.0. Before I installed there were no problems with the external tools in Eclipse, but after the installation I couldn’t create new ant tasks, use old ant tasks, or create new run tasks. After reading through the forums I found one similar that suggested removing the file from the <eclipse>/link directory, which “uninstalls” myEclipse. I tried this and then the external tools worked perfectly, but when myEclipse is active I can’t use the external tools.

The error I get when trying to create a new ant task is as follows:

Plug-in org.eclipse.ui.externaltools was unable to load class
    org.eclipse.ui.externaltools.internal.ant.launchConfigurations.AntTabGroup

If anyone has seen this and knows the solution, I would greatly appreciate some assistance.

    Thanks.

    elrickxxv,
I’m sorry someone hadn’t replied to you sooner about this. My first suggestion would be to try Eclipse 2.1.3 with MyEclipse 2.8beta1, there are 100s of bug fixes between the 2.1.0 release and 2.1.3 release that pertain to all aspects of Eclipse.

I do remember this bug being reported in the past, but seem to remember that upgrading fixed the issue or it just ‘went away’. I don’t remember us working a fix into MyEclipse for it, and if we had, it would certainly be in 2.8beta1 (which is still not working for you).
