    Hi!

I’ve been looking around for a metric tool for Java. Preferably a tool to run along with Ant and that generates a html report.

I found two metric tools, but both project has been inactive for quite some time:

    – JMetric: jmetric.sf.net (2001)
    – JavaNCSS: http://www.kclee.de/clemens/java/javancss (2002)

JMetric seems to be broken according to the bug reports.

What free/open source metric tool for use with Ant is recommend by the community?

    Regards,
    Jimisola

    Jimisola,
Have you taken a look at Clover? http://www.cenqua.com/clover/

They are free for OS development and these guys started off as a small company making initial announcements on JL and seem to have really done well over the years… seem like a nice group.

Yes, I’ve taken a look at it before. It was omitted since it is commercial and costs too much.

    Thanks anyway.

PS. I found an open-source code analyzer in PMD (pmd.sf.net) DS.

PMD is quite good, so is CheckStyle IIRC, although you wanted coverage tools right?

I think there are 2 OS coverage tools on SF that are pretty popular… http://emma.sourceforge.net/samples.html
