Scott AndersonParticipantAs you can tell, our support staff spends a fair amount of time reviewing these forums and answering questions from all over the world. Recently, I became curious as to the number of regions and countries we have represented thus far in our little “community”.
The intent of this thread is simply to welcome you and find out what part of the world you live in. So, what I’d like you to do, if you’re willing, is simply to post a followup message to answer the following question; as we say in Dallas, Texas, USA, where we live, “Howdy, where y’all from?”

Eric GlassMemberHi Scott,
I am from Cleveland, Ohio.
I have been to Texas several times and know that you’all know how to have a BBQ!

Yep, it’s hard to get bad barbeque here, as long as you’re looking for beef barbeque. Of course, I also enjoy the pulled pork variety from the Tennessee / Carolinas area too. All smoked meat is welcome here. 😉

Dragi RaosMemberHi, everybody!
I am from Zagreb, capital of Croatia, a small Mediterranean country (for those geographically chalenged 😉
This is my first day here. I thought I would play a bit with MyEclipse over my vacations and see whether it is the right choice for those occasions when Vim is too little and WebSphere Developer’s Studio too much. Looks good so far!
Cheers!
(Hm, why was sig not added? Anyway:

I admit it. I’m geographically challenged. However, I did manage for find a nice map with the help of Google at:

Now I have a pretty good idea where you are. 🙂This is my first day here.
Welcome from us all. We hope you stay.

Great question. I’ve been wondering that myself. I’ve mentioned the problem to our board administrator so hopefully we can get it taken care of. You have no idea how many times I’ve typed:

Robert VargaParticipantHello All,
I am from Budapest, Hungary.
Actually I am browsing the forums for quite a while now, and also managed to make our CTO to buy a couple of licenses 🙂 I don’t know whether he already made the order, however :-)))
I usually develop EJB and Web applications, and now I am into working with workflows with Weblogic Platform 8.1.
Therefore I would also welcome some workflow editor into MyEclipse which would able to act as a substitute for Weblogic Workshop which I unfortunately find too slow and uncomfortable to work with.
For a first step a verification check for .jpd files would be good, which would check that the process language XML is correct, and also that all methods referred in it exist.
Afterwards the Weblogic generator programs could be invoked to generate the necessary Java files from it.
Scott AndersonParticipantrobvarga,
Welcome to MyEclipse and thanks for taking the time to satisfy my curiosity.

Great to hear. I don’t think I’ve seen a license key go out to Hungary yet, but I could be mistaken. I used to go through the log and look at them all, but with the increase in subscriptions I don’t really have time to do that anymore. I guess that’s a good thing. 🙂
On the WebLogic front, we’ll look at providing workflow tools based on the upcoming standards but I don’t think we’ll be providing any competitive tools just for WebLogic like workshop. We like to keep all our tooling as server independent as possible to cover the widest possible market.
If you end up using MyEclipse and WebLogic Workshop, you might think about writing an article about it, either for publication in JDJ or our website (or both). A good “how to” on the topic would be beneficial to many people. Just a thought.

Robert VargaParticipantIt could have went to the parent company, which is in Denmark 🙂 Or it is possible that he altogether forgot about it, or did not manage to do it, as he had a couple of business travels in the last month.

MyEclipse SupportProbably I won’t do too much common work with Workshop and MyEclipse, the only thing which comes into my mind as a possible scenario is deploying the jar files generated with Workshop together with any other files in the Eclipse side of the project with (My)Eclipse.
Scott AndersonParticipantdeploying the jar files generated with Workshop together with any other files in the Eclipse side of the project with (My)Eclipse
That makes sense and would be interesting to hear about.

Ronald van KuijkMemberHi Scott,
After the geographic puzzle from croatia, now a cultural one
I’m from a country of
– windmills
– wooden shoes
– tulips
– canalsWhere am I from?
Ronald
P.S. why the switch from 2.5.2 to 2.6? and do you need any beta-testers? (including 3.0)
Scott AndersonParticipantRonald,
Gotta be Holland. By the way, I’ve always wondered “wooden shoes”? Seems really uncomfortable. Was there a lack of leather or do they have another purpose?

Ronald van KuijkMemberA couple of days ago the ‘progressbar’ on the news pages mentioned 2.5.2., now it is 2.6. That’s the reason for my question. I already thought it had something to do with
Basically, once all the features were tallied, it had enough big new stuff to be considered a minor release.
The wooden shoe issue is mainly becaus of the farmers in days long gone…. Leather shoes didn’t last that long in wet, muddy meadows where the cows were eating gras (hmm.. gras, another ‘dutch’ thing 😉 ) Once you get used to it it isn’t that uncomfortable. Some famers still use them. There is this huge 4 day event where people walk 50km each day and some people walk this distance on wooden shoes (to me that is like SM)
Scott AndersonParticipantLeather shoes didn’t last that long in wet, muddy meadows
Excellent! And it even makes sense. This is something I’ve always wondered about. Thanks for the edification. 🙂
