    Hi,

I’m very new to MyEclipse, and although I’ve had a github account for over five years, I’ve never actually done anything with it. I have now decided it’s time to start getting serious again about programming. I’m told I can integrate the two, I’m not sure if it’s my unfamiliarity with one side or the other (or indeed both sides of the equation), but for the life of me I can’t work out how to set up what I want (which is basically work in a local folder and push/pull to/from github when needed from within MyEclipse). I’m running on a Linux system if that’s important.

Can somebody please point me to simple walkthrough of how to set up.

    Thanks.

    ~S

    Sanukk,

Thank you for trying MyEclipse. MyEclipse has an integrated Git connector.Go to Window > Show View > Other > Git. Expand Git and select Git Repositories. You can add the local repo to this view.

I suggest you go through the tutorials for integrating Git in Eclipse and follow the same steps in MyEclipse. The only difference is in Eclipse you will have to install EGit plugin for Git support and MyEclipse already has Git support integrated.

Please check this thread for more information : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21473308/integrating-eclipse-and-github

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Sorry, this makes zero sense to me. Are there any tutorials for MyEclipse rather than something close enough, but totally different? That link doesn’t help at all.

    sanukk,

I am afraid there is no tutorial for MyEclipse + Git integration. The wizards for Git integration in MyEclipse are same as in Eclipse.

Please check this tutorial for detailed instructions on setting up Git in Eclipse. You can skip the ‘Installation of Git support into Eclipse’ section and follow the rest of the steps in MyEclipse :
    http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/EclipseGit/article.html

If you have already downloaded the Git repo to your local folder, then you can add it to the Git Repositories view using the ‘Add an existing local Git repository’ link in the Git Repositories view.

If you still have trouble configuring Git with MyEclipse, please share with us the steps you have followed till now and where exactly you are stuck to help us assist further.
