First off i admit i am mostly clueless.

I am writting Building blocks for Blackboard learning center. using Tomcat 5.5.23

if i use Eclipse Europa and “Dynamic Web Project” the builidng block works.

What type of project do i use in workbench 7.1 that will bring in the Tomcat 5.5 librarys and work like the “Dynamic Web Project” of Eclipse Europa?

    Hi,
Dynamic Web projects is an Eclipse project type. We support Web projects. You can refer to this doc for more info on web projects:-

What type of project do i use in workbench 7.1 that will bring in the Tomcat 5.5 librarys and work like the “Dynamic Web Project” of Eclipse Europa?

You will have to create a web project and add manually the libraries you need.

Ok i have made everything work except for one thing.

    I am using 3 external Jar’s: “bb-cms-admin.jar”, “bb-platform.jar”, and “bb-taglibs.jar”

they are being added to the WAR file and i do not want them there. once I delete them from the WAR (Export to WAR) file the building block works.

How can I add the use of them without having the deployed in the WAR?

Thanks for your assitance it is greatly appreciated.

    MikeSp,
If you went through the web tutorial I sent you, there is a section that explains the deployment options. You can create a user library with these three jars and add this user lib to the build path of your project. After doing that, go to Windows > Prefs > MyEclipse > Java Enterprise Project > Web Project > Deployment and uncheck “jars from user libraries”.

Now instead of exporting to war, deploy the project the way it is explained in the tutorial and choose a “custom location”. This should get the war generated without the libraries.

Changing the Options under MyEclipse >> Java Enterprise Project >> Web Project >> Deployment >> I chose “Ignore” and unchecked the 4 options below.

Now the External Jar method is working perfectly.

Thanks for all your help, and I am sorry I did not read the tutorial first before replying. Your answers were there all along.
