New to MobiOne – have programmed from years though

Trying to create an App that asks you for a URL then you select a video file from the browser which is streamed to the device , hopefully should be simple but have no idea how to do this in mobione

Any help to start me on my way appreciated, have tried searching for online resource but haven’t found much

    Cheers

Im not quite sure what you mean by selecting a video with the browser. You can easily use a textbox for the URL. To play a video in mobione you need the URL of the video file, then you can pass it to the video player.

    I’m getting closer

Not sure if this is a good way of doing it but:

I have set up a html block, i can load a URL into an iframe (e.g http://192.168.0.219/media/)
Then manipulate it using jquery to extract the media files, so a directory listing then becomes a list of media files.

In the test center this works fine, but when I publish as a web app the jquery functions don’t appear to be working – anything obvious I’m missing ?

    Cheers

    Hi Toby,

There are some key differences between the Test Center browser and what you will encounter on a device. From your description you don’t say anything about your device/os. It depends on what you are doing in your iframe but your mileage will vary across devices. Generally you should avoid iframe on iOS and android devices unless you are aware of all the quirks that exist.

See this note on use of iframe: http://www.genuitec.com/support-genuitec/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3600
