MygalouxMemberhello,
How to get the professional version of MyEclipse 4.0 GA?August 30, 2005 at 8:00 am #236044
Paul BakerMemberI have the same question. The feature list refers to the Pro version but there is no other information about “Pro”. Where to get it, how to upgrade….

Riyad KallaMemberukizhake,
A few things to clarify:1) You don’t need Pro to debug JSPs
2) All “standard” subscriptions will be treated as Pro versions for the next year as a thank you we are doing for all our customers.October 26, 2005 at 11:12 am #240149

——————————————————————————————-I purchased ‘standard’ version of the product in August-September time frame.
I wonder, why this special offer (upgrade to ‘professional’ version) was not extended to my case as well?
Where should I inquire about that?

It most likely was, every “Standard” subscription is being treated like a Professional subscription for the next year.
Currently the only 2 features that are Pro-specific are UML support and the extended Oracle tools. You can see if you have UML support by creating a new UMR File and working with it, as outlined here: http://www.myeclipseide.com/images/tutorials/quickstarts/uml/

I just verified – I don’t have any UML support present when I switch to MyEclipse UML Perspective.
support-rkalla,
can you help me to get the upgrade features working in my environment?thanks …

Riyad KallaMemberFirst things first, I noticed you are running a pre-release version of 4.0 of MyEclipse, I would like to rule out any possible incompatabilities. I would encourage you to download Eclipse 3.1.1 SDK (From http://www.eclipse.org) as well as MyEclipse 4.0.3 (just released today) from our site, and install them both to a new location. Then when you start it up, create a new workspace. Then walk back trhough the steps to create a new UMR file. Does it work? If so, try and open your existing workspace now, now try to create a UMR file, did it still work?

Hmmmm – this is radical suggestion. I am bit reluctant to install a new Eclipse environment since I would lose all my current project settings and installed/configured plugins.
This is not simple exercise. I was hoping we can, somehow, make my existing Eclipse/MyEclipse environment and its UML support working. 😥

Sure we can try a different way, I was just taking this opportunity to try and get you all upgraded. Instead let’s go step-by-step, above you said “I don’t have any UML support present when I switch to MyEclipse UML Perspective”, I would point out that the fact you even have the perspective is an indicator that UML support is infact intact.
Did you follow the steps I asked you to in the document I linked above? File > New > Other > MyEclipse > UML > UML Model Repository?

Fred BurkeMemberIt’s great that you are extending an offer to upgrade to Pro for free to existing and renewing memebers. I’ve been a member since 09/03 and renewed last year as well but I waited till today to renew again. I paid the full $52.75 because I was not offered this benefit. If that could that be corrected I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks,

Riyad KallaMemberFred,
I am sorry for the confusion, I did not state that as clearly as I should have, what we did was decided to treate all *existing* subscriptions as Pro until they were renewed when we rolled out our 4.0 release. So if you are buying a new subscription after 4.0 or are renewing, the new Pro version is not a free upgrade. When I use the “year” timeline here, I am referring to the longest case where someone bought a subscription the day before we released 4.0, at that point they and everyone with a current subscription will get the Pro version until their next renewal cycle. For some folks it was the next day, week, month. For the guy that bought the license right before the cutoff date, he gets the whole year. -
