Hi
I wanted to use the Mobione Emulator to test an app developed by our development team. I can install the app on iphone & android phones however when i try to install it on this emulator it comes up with the error – ‘Invalid url’
Can you please let me know how i can install the app on Emulator and test it before i can start testing on real devices.

Hi,

The MobiOne iOS emulator is limited to running general HTML5 mobile and optimized mobile safari webapps and hybrid phonegap iOS apps running in webapp format, i.e., the phonegap web bundle. I am not aware of any true iOS emulator, i.e., not even Apples iOS simulator is a true iOS hardware vm.

If you can install the app on the real devices why do you need an emulator, seems a bit like putting the cart before the horse.

Wanted to use Emulator and test on phones with different iOS versions early in testing before testing on real devices and identify/pick up compatability issues. Identified many such issues in our app as the devlopment team failed to make it compatible. Also its difficult to get hold of real devices with different versions of software on them and test the app.

Correct. You can’t install android apps either.
