mesfin,
Sorry to hear that you are running into this issue. How are you installing ME 7.1.1? Meaning – 1. Have you downloaded the all-in-one installer from the download site, 2. Using Eclipse 3.4.1, adding the update site of MyEclipse 7.1.1? 3. Using pulse to download MyEclipse?
1. If you are installing using all-in-one installer, I would suggest you to download the installer, check the file size and md5sum. Take the computer offline and install.
2. If you are using Eclipse to install the MyEclipse plugin, make sure you have un-interrupted internet connection, if not download the archived update site and install.
3. If you are using pulse, the install should be pretty fast, as it resolves all the dependencies and installs MyEclipse.
If the problem is related to Maven. Maven requires an index to operate, without it it cannot resolve dependencies. It attempts to download this and update it on startup harmlessly in the background. If you really don’t want this to happen you can go to Windows > Prefs > MyEclipse > Maven4MyEclipse > Maven and turn off “Update on startup”
