I’m trying to install all the extra features available through help, and I got an error related to ‘could not contact http://hibernate.org.’ Then the other plugins seemed to have started to install, but after about 15 minutes, the entire IDE froze and I closed it. Now when I open it, it throuws a null exception and cannot open the editor. Should I re-install the whole thing? How careful should I be about downloading any plugins available through the MyEclipse help menu?

You would usually not face such issues when updating through MyEclipse. Anyway, let try to fix the null exception first. Can you start MyEclipse using the -clean command. Do you still get the null exception when you try opening the IDE ?

I re-installed MyEclipse environment and the latest java sdk that day. It all seems to be working well now besides code assist taking very long sometimes.
I appreciate your help.
