2) Sometimes, if you try to start working on a project while the Quick Update is running it just goes on forever.This has been pretty much the case going all the way back for all the versions I’ve had.

Are you pointing out that the initialization process jumps to 100 % from 8 % or it never moves past 8 %?
2) Sometimes, if you try to start working on a project while the Quick Update is running it just goes on forever.
The quick update goes on forever and never completes? Do you see the update progressing in the Update window? Does this happen with all updates.
I have always updated my IDE while working on a project and I haven’t faced this problem. I work on my projects while the update runs in the back ground.
