dkuehnerMemberI am using a fresh install of Eclipse SDK 3.4.2 – 64 bit.
When I try to do the MyEclipse 7.5 using the update site from help -> software updates I get:
“The software items you selected may not be valid with your current installation. Do you want to open the wizard anyway to review the selections?”
Clicking yes, fails with the following:
Cannot complete the request. See the details.
Unsatisfied dependency: [com.genuitec.myeclipse.enterprise.workbench.feature.group 7.5.0.zmyeclipse75020090612] requiredCapability: org.eclipse.equinox.p2.iu/org.mozilla.xulrunner.win32.win32.x86/[1.9.0.7-zmyeclipse75020090612,1.9.0.7-zmyeclipse75020090612]I am using Windows XP Pro 64 bit SP2
6 gigs ram
I7 processor
Sun’s 64 bit JVM (jdk-1_5_0_10-windows-amd64.exe)
Eclipse 64 bit version 3.4.2 (eclipse-SDK-3.4.2-win32-x86_64)When I start up eclipse the splash screen mentions “Ganymede” which I presume has something to do with the version. This was downloaded from the eclispe site starting at the eclipse classic link, but I am wondering, since 3.4.2 is not the latest , if I ended up with the wrong (non-“classic”) version of eclipse from the archive versions download screen.
Any ideas on getting this to work?

Sorry to hear you are running into this issue.
Can you tell me how you are trying to update to MyEclipse 7.5?Cannot complete the request. See the details.

You need to download Eclipse 3.4.2 classic to update to MyEclipse 7.5. The Eclipse 3.4.2 for 64 bit windows is available at – http://update.eclipse.org/downloads/drops/R-3.4.2-200902111700/winPlatform.php#EclipseSDK
I would recommend you to install the All-in-one downloader from the link – http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Downloads&req=viewsdownload&sid=31. With this, you’ll get the Eclipse 3.4.2 classic and MyEclipse 7.5.
The other way to install MyEclipse 7.5 is by using Pulse Explorer. go to the link – http://www.poweredbypulse.com/download_win.php
and download the pulse for 64 bit windows. After downloading the pulse run the pulse and follow the steps:
1) It asks for Login credentials, you can register for pulse or click on anonymous to continue without registering.
2) If you click on anonymous, click Next to continue. Pulse Explorer opens.
3) Make sure you select Ganymede from the top left drop down.
4) If MyEclipse 7.5 is already installed, it will show up in My Profiles. So, Expand “MyProfiles” and if you find MyEclipse 7.5, right click on MyEclipse 7.5 and select option “reinstall and run”.
5) If MyEclipse is not already installed, expand “Ready to Use Profile” and select “Popular”.
5) On right hand side, you’ll find MyEclipse 7.5, click on that to install MyEclipse 7.5August 13, 2009 at 8:39 am #301397

I installed java 1_5_0_10 64-bit from jdk-1_5_0_10-windows-amd64.exe downloaded from Sun. Set up the path to point to the bin dir.
I installed eclipse classic 3.4.2 64-bit from eclipse-SDK-3.4.2-win32-x86_64.zip downloaded from eclipse (same download page you indicate in your post).
I tried installing myeclipse from the Help -> Software Updates… menu option in eclipse. Added the location http://downloads.myeclipseide.com/downloads/products/eworkbench/ganymede-latest/ as per the notes on your site.
Pressing “Install…” on the Software Updates screen after selecting the “MyEclipse Update Site” gave me the message in my previous post.@support-joy wrote:

This is where I downloaded it from. This is also my primary question. Did I download the correct version – eclipse-SDK-3.4.2-win32-x86_64.zip? I think so since the naming matches the 32 bit naming for the classic version.

Will this give me a 32 bit version or a 64 bit version? (I hope bought this cool i7 system for something 🙂 )

I tried this and it gave me an error after the last step “Could not run MyEclipse 7.5 becasue it is not available for you OS (win 32) and architecture (x86_64).
Which is odd since I have XP 64, java 64 and eclispe 64. So I don’t know why it is saying that the OS is win32.
In any case. The fundamental question is: Do you support 64 bit eclipse? If so, do you have an all-in-one installer for 64 bit? Or even links specificly to the install files (your link for eclipse classic was just to the downloads page, not to the specific file to download).
THank you for your help. I could just install a 32 bit stack on my computer just to get working, but I would like to see if I can get a 64 bit stack running if I can.

support-joyMemberdkuehner,
I have re-checked with our dev team members. We only have 32-bit builds of MyEclipse for Windows right now — we are looking at correcting the same with MyEclipse 8.0.
Inconvinience caused is sincerely regretted.August 17, 2009 at 2:24 pm #301488
Loyal WaterMemberdkuehner,
You could even run our 32 bit all in one installer, and it will lay down the necessary 32-bit JRE, Eclipse and MyEclipse bundles for you. The 64 bit windows installer is on the cards and we will try and get it out asap. -
