I just purchased myeclipse. The installation process assumes (or seems to assume) that the works space folder resides in the eclipse directory. However, in my case, we use a separate workspace directory — it makes upgrading eclipse easier.

Is there a way to specify the workspace location during an install?

    Thanks much.

The MyEclipse installer shouldn’t care about your workspace. You don’t even need a workspace to install. The installer only needs to know the location of your eclipse installation so it can install the ME eclipse product extension. Once you have installed you can then specify your workspace when you start eclipse with the -data option.

    Leon,
What kind of problems were you running into such that you came to that conclusion?

I noticed that when I started using the “MyEcllpse” shortcut all of my existing projects were missing from the workspace. since the shortcut doesn’t include the -data option, that seems fair enough. On the other hand, if I started with the -data option I didn’t see the “MyEclipse” options in the preferences. So I made the assumption that the myeclipse installation was modifying some of the data in the workspace.

I will double check that and let you know.

    Thanks for the info.

I re-installed MyEclipse, and this time when I started the eclipse with the separate workspace I got a dialog box asking if I wanted to complete the installation of the features. I clicked the ok button, and now I have myeclipse available to me.

    Thanks much.
