On the Mac — Do I need to un-install MyEclipse 8.6 for Spring (Mac edition) before installing MyEclipse for Spring 9 (Mac Edition)?

The installation paths are totally different in the installer and MyEclipse 9 doesn’t show up in the IDE section of Pulse as one of the help topics says it should so it seems a manual install (possibly also an uninstall of 8.6) is in order.

Please advise.

You need not un-install ME 8.6 Spring to install ME 9.0 Spring. In case you are using pulse to download, please make sure you choose “Eclipse – Helios” realm instead of “Eclipse – Galileo” from the pull-down menu. Next click on – Ready to user profile > Popular. On the right hand pane it will list MyEclipse for Spring 9.0, you can install the same. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi Joy,

Not sure what “Pull-down menu” you’re referring to, but under “Software” in the configuration center (under Public Sites), I only see “Eclipse-Galielo”.

I’ll go ahead and do a fresh install for the moment, but could you tell me how to change the “realm” in the future?

I can send you a screen shot of my 8.6 software config screen if you want.

You seem to be trying to update the MyEclipse for Spring 8.6 using the configuration center. Please note that the base eclipse for ME4S 8.6 and 9.0 are different. You cannot update from the configuration center. Instead you need to install ME 9.0 afresh. You can either download the all-in-one installer from the download site (http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html) or use pulse to install. In case you use pulse, here are the steps –
1. Open Pulse (In case you do not have pulse, please download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com)
2. Login to pulse. You can also login anonymously
3. Select “Eclipse 3.6 – Helios” from the dropdown box
4. Expand and click on – Ready to use profiles > Popular
5. Right hand pane would list you all the profiles related to 9.0. You can choose to install ME4S 9.0 from here
