I use several plugins like jadclipse that don’t come with a url for using the update manager.

After having installed Myeclipse 7.0 complete there is no dropins folder.

What is the recommended way of installing plugins of this kind.

    Regards

    loomax,

Support for the /dropins folder is temporarily unavailable due to some technical limitations that we hope to rectify in January with an updated version of Pulse to manage plugins in this manner.

To work around the immediate hickup, here’s a user-created update site for JadClipse:
    http://webobjects.mdimension.com/jadclipse/3.3

he clarified that this works for 3.4 here:
    http://wiki.objectstyle.org/confluence/display/WOL/mail/3375165

alternatively if you can create a local ZIP or folder structure of an update site, when you go to register the update site you can click the “Local” or “Archive” buttons on the right to add that instead.

Sorry for this seemingly random limitation — it’s a side effect of us integrating a lot of automated update and dependency management into the IDE — it *needs* an update site right now to stream stuff from in proper order. That’s one of the enhancements we are going to get done and out the door fast (supporting /dropins)

I followed the instructions here to create update sites for my needed plugins:

    http://calla.ics.uci.edu/mrsg/mail/msg00038.html

    In short:
I opened my old version of Eclipse created a feature project — Inserted the needed Plugin and then strated the creation of an update site project out of this.

    loomax,

We really appreciate you posting that tip for others running into the same issue. I’m going to add that to the FAQ with full credits.
