On the MyEclipse | Xdoclet properties dialog, I have selected the “Use xdoclet-build.xml file”.

Usually that works. But in this case, I had already placed that file within the project.

Then, when I clicked OK, I get a java.lang.InvocationTargetException.

I can not save the changes, and then Run XDoclet fails.

Even after I completely delete the entire project and started over (this time btw WITHOUT the xdoclet-build.xml file in place !) I still see the same problem. I repeated this process several times by recreating the project from scratch: this is a sticky problem now.

I don’t know of any workaround now, except to possibly delete the entire workspace, which is clearly unacceptable.

thanks.

Can you please post all the information we request in the Posting Guidelines thread at the top of this forum? That will give us some context so that we can determine if this is an installation issue, a configuration problem, or a bug. Thanks.

First try this:
Restart using the -clean command line argument then try and run Xdoclet, if that doesn’t work then also try this:
File > Switch Workspace > C:\tempworkspace, hit OK. Now create a web project and make the same XDoclet settings hit OK. Run it (even if it’s nonsensical) did it work?

Hi Riyad,
Thanks for the suggestions:

1. Switching the workspace and creating a new dummy project did result in a project for which configuring manual xdoclet-build.xml worked.
2. Doing eclipse -clean did not resurrect that ability for the existing project

I will look at the posting guidelines and follow after this.

Shoot, ok #2 is the only way to recover a screwy workspace, if that didn’t work then what we need to do is create a new workspace. But before we do that, open your old workspace, go to File > Export > Preferences and export all your preferences to a file. Go back to your new workspace, open it up and use File > Import > Preferences. Then use File > Import to pull your projects back in.

Does XDoclet still run?
