Paul_paulParticipantI have installed iOS 7.1 beta on my ip5 these are my findings.
Mobile web application built by M1 2.5 would not cache for offline use, would not run full screen although the app icon did add to home screen. This is still unacceptable.Same mobile web app built with M1 2.3 did cache to iphone, icon saved to home screen and app did run full screen. Everything seems to be working except the back button. As before it works on the first run but not subsequent runs.
In conclusion, nothing has changed really, back button still an issue.November 20, 2013 at 4:09 pm #344653
Paul_paulParticipantSupport you are strangely quiet on this topic, nothing to say?

paulDMemberApple will do anything to protect the app store. They took Flash out of the game a couple of years back, now their biggest threat is HTML5 / Javascript apps. But unfortunately for Apple this time they can’t play the ‘not open source’ wheeze any more so the next best thing is to make the IOS incompatible and make the uploading and distribution of these apps as painful as possible. By this stage they hope that your so browbeaten you will start using that abomination of a development platform Xcode. Who in their right mind would want to learn objective c…………
But we are not alone both Sencha and Corona users are having similar issues! Personally i think Apple are playing a dangerous game. The future for both web and mobile development is cross application development and i don’t think even the mighty Apple can eventually stop the momentum which is behind HTML5 and all the javascript libraries.

support-michaelKeymasterMy 2 cents is mobile web is trending towards the old desktop browser wars with lots of browser fragmentation across the different platforms. There are now multiple flavors of webkit browsers and firefox. Most users still use the default platform browser which we see in ios7 has been problematic for most mobile web widget libs and tool vendors. The current trend is to move to hybrid apps which suffer less than browser-hosted webapps. We have been seriously discussing concentrating solely on apps and abandoning webapps due to the continued hassles we have dealt with over the years.

Paul_paulParticipant@Wayne, more importantly what are you doing about the fact iOS7.1 beta is locking out your app installer?

That’s why i miss my Flash work so much 🙂 None of the hassles with browser compatibility, just set the target flash player and boom it worked……. I was never a fan of Flash websites but as a drawing and animation tool its still years ahead.
But that’s another story 🙂
Tend to agree with you on the webapp front.
