SheetalDubeMemberHi,
I am a UX consultant and looking for tools to build mobile prototypes for our clients. The key is that we want the prototype to be viewed on the iPhone. Keeping that in mind, would you say that mobione is a tool that would help me or is this more of a developers tool? Thanks,

wayneModeratorMobiOne Studio is for mobile UX designers. Our vision for MobiOne is “a runnable mock-up on your phone in minutes”. In Milestone-9 released yesterday we include a “Send To My Phone” feature that connects the final dot in our development milestone sequence to enable you to quickly demo a design that you mockup directly on your iphone or in the MobiOne iPhone emulator. I’m hoping to get some how-to documentation and a video out on this in the next few days.

SheetalDubeMemberThanks for the info. I downloaded the software yesterday and tried the send to phone feature. Love it! I did have one recommendation – To include a feature like image map in Axure. That would help create a background images with button graphics and link them with each other – like fake buttons. Just my 2 cents…

wayneModeratorThanks for that recommendation. Passed it along to team.
Shameless request: please tell all your friends about MobiOne.

SheetalDubeMemberI just created a test prototype and ‘send to phone’ Howevere I am unable to view the link. The message I am getting is that I do not have the permission to view the URL??

wayneModeratorI suspect the problem is that you are attempting to use Send To Phone in the Test Center with a local file URL (e.g., file: / / ). In 1.0M9 the Test Center is limited to sending you only the runtime URL of a design from the Design Center. If that is the case, then the Test Center is sending you a local file: / / URL which is typically invalid for external access on an iPhone.
Solution: For 1.0M9 please use Send To Phone from the Design Center instead of the Test Center
Note we ran out of time to completely implement the Test Center’s support for Send To Phone. We are improving it now and should have an update (1.0M9 update-1) available next week.

SheetalDubeMemberHi, I do have one more question – Is it possible to change the orientation of the prototype? For example, I am creating an application to view reports and most likely users will view it in landscape mode. So I am wondering if I can design the prototype in landscape mode or view it in landscape mode. Thanks!

wayneModeratorDesign for landscape orientation is on our roadmap. Presently our top priorities are to improve the designer’s reliability and complete our component palette.

SheetalDubeMemberThis is good. Thank you. I will be writing a blog on the tools I evaluated for creating Mobile prototypes and will include MobiOne in it. Thanks!
