Does “Sun let the JavaBean specification die a horrible death” mean that there are newer, better ways of creating components in Java, or that creating such components is not rewarding at last? The answer to this question is important to me, because my company is considering this for business purposes. I´ll appreciate your comments.
I can’t provide any valuable information to you other than the fact that the original idea behind JavaBeans was a great one, but Sun didn’t nurture that market or change a lot of the complaints about the specification that people had, so the whole widget market never really took off.
There are still companies that do widgets and make some good money at it, so it’s viable, just not huge. Again, please google for articles on this topic and don’t use my comments as guidence.
