I have a j2ee project, and want the javadocs for servlet, etc. When I right-click the project, select ‘build path’ -> ‘configure build path’, select the ‘Libraries’ path and expand the ‘j2ee 1.4 library container’, I can find the .jar file for javax.servlet.jar. It has no javadoc entry. If I select the empty javadoc entry, the ‘Edit’ button lights up; if I click that, I can enter a path to a javadoc directory with docs on servlets; that path is then shown in the javadoc slot for the javax.servlet.jar. But if I ‘OK’ the dialog, and open it again, the javadocs slot is empty again.

How can I get javadocs for servlets to work?

I’m running Eclipse 3.2.2 with MyEclipse 5.1.1 (trial) on Ubuntu 7.04. And I’m a total newbie to Eclipse.

This is a known bug that was fixed in the 5.5 release, sorry about the frustration.

I would encourage you to shut down MyEclipse, remove 5.1.1 and then download our 5.5 installer and install it to a brand new clean directory and restart MyEclipse. Then your attachments should work.
