I have problems when trying to debug My JSP’s in this setup:
    – Eclipse 3.0 RC2
    – MyEclispeIde 3.8 beta 1
    – Java J2SDK1.4.2_03
    – JBoss 3.2.4 (including Tomcat 5).

I am able to set breakpoints in the JSP and view the variables present, but stepping through the code does not work.

Are there anyone else that have successfully set up this to work??

    keb,
Are your pages highly dynamic? (lots of taglibs, lots of includes, tiles, etc.?)

    Yes definitely!

I use the standard Struts taglibs + displaytag taglib + struts-layout taglib.
In addition I make quite extensive use of include’s to keep page complexity down.

Are there any known issues regarding debugging JSP includes & taglibs in general?
Or known issues regarding debugging JSP & taglibs on JBoss 3.2.4?
    – If so, are there any workarounds?

Ok it seems that there are some enhancements to the Eclipse 3.0 debugger that should help this, however it also turns out that debugging’s accuracy is HIGHLY dependant on the SMAP (source-map?) that is generated by the application server. And as one example, the SMAP for Tomcat seems to change between each bugfix release… some more accurate than others.

We are hoping to get some time to address is before the next GA release, and definately after it. We are planning a polish-release after we GA 2.8/3.8 to address some usability and tweak issues.
