If I am in the JSP Editor on a file which is checked into source control software and I have begun to attempt to edit the file, when I realise and check it out for editing out I have to close and reopen the file. A refresh does not seem to help nor changing focus and coming back.

It is fine if I have not started editing

I am using perforce but not via the p4Eclipse Plug-in.

Although not massive it is just a bit irritating.

I’ve entered an enhancment request for the JSP editor that it should check read / write state of a file when the editor gets the focus, rather than just on opening.
