I just installed MyEclipse on my Linux machine running Mandrake 9.2. I running Eclipse 2.1.1. The Preview tab for the JSP is not showing up. It’s there in Windows. Not in Linux. Is there a configuaration I can check or does anyone know if this is a problem?

    Thanks

There is no Eclipse browser widget in Eclipse 2.x,
Guess you need the 3.0M6 for Linux, or even wait for later versions.

Well that kind of sucks. How is 3.0M6? Is it stable enough to develop? I think I would rather just use an external viewer. 🙂

Actually, we have experimented with a backport of the E3.0 internal browser control to MyEclipse 2.x. We plan to intro this in ME 2.8. The goal is to provide the Linux and Mac guys, Windows like behavior.

That’s great news! Can I ask what the browser is based on? I kind of assumed it would externally link to Mozilla much like the IE part on Windows, but from the way you describe it, it sounds like an actual part of the platform? If so, what tech is it based on? If not… well then nevermind.

A couple months back one of our developers experiemented with a backport of the Eclipse 3.0 browser control to Eclipse 2.1. It appeared successful. We identified this as a possible enhancement for ME 2.8. So this is really just E3.0 functionality integrated into E2.1.x. No special technology beyond E3.0 OTS stuff.
