    Eugene,

Can you please give us some more details?

    1. Are you trying to work with Websphere server? Please share the details of the server along with a screenshot of the window which asks you to enter the license information.

    2. If .myeclipse.properties file is read-only for some reason, MyEclipse will have problems saving your subscription information, so please make sure that the file has the correct access privilege to write the data. Please check this FAQ on where the MyEclipse files and folders are – https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-where-are-the-myeclipse-files-and-folders/

I always get confused about the myeclipse license. Based on my understanding that the eclipse is under the GNU General Public License (GPL), and the myeclipse is an inherited product from it. So myeclipse should also carry the GNU General Public License (GPL).

If this is true, then why does myeclipse mandate to have a valid license to use, otherwise the ME will be disabled?

    Thanks to clarify.

    Eugene,

MyEclipse is built upon the Eclipse platform, and integrates both proprietary and open source code into the development environment. The MyEclipse adds database tools, a visual web designer, persistence tools, Spring tools, Struts and JSF tooling,Maven, Mobile tooling and a number of other features to the basic Eclipse Java Developer profile. With these additions, MyEclipse is a commercially available separate project entirely and offers a different feature set from Eclipse.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
