Loading Software And Workspace Center Hangs…

    Okay, I’ve got 8.5 and it was working fine. Just now tried to pull up the center to disable the mylyn plugin (it’s throwing errors that I don’t care about cuz I don’t use mylyn).

    So it starts to come up, shows me it is 25% completed, then nothing, just hangs.

    I’ve tried restarting mye, no help.

    I’ve even rebooted the system, no help.

    I can’t even see what, if any, error there is that is blocking it.

    Now I’m pissed because all of the updates, plugin controls, etc. are under this stupid center and, since it is hanging, I can’t do anything for these types of tasks. At least when they were all separate I’d have some chance of getting things changed, but now I’m just hosed…

    I have had lots of problems with my instalation being corrupted and hanging.
    I think most of the corrumption is due to mylyn.

    The corruption went away when I reinstalled without mylyn.

    I have also had several hangs when I set my proxy and once when ME was just sitting in the xml editor.

    Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. I would recommend you a quick fix using pulse. Please follow below mentioned steps –
    1. Open Pulse. If you don’t have pulse. download the same from http://www.poweredbypulse.com
    2. Login to pulse. You can also login anonymously.
    3. Select respective eclipse realm. For ME 8.x choose “Eclipse-Galileo” from top left hand corner dropdown
    4. Under “My Profiles” it will list you all your ME profiles.
    5. Select “MyEclipe x.x” profile. Choose software tab from the right hand pane.
    6. Under personal software, it lists all your 3rd party plugins. Please remove “MyLyn” in case you don’t wish to install the same.
    7. Bottom right hand corner, under pending changes, it will list out the changes to be managed
    8. Click on [Apply x changes]
    9. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the steps.

    Good to hear you are all set with your current profile. As mentioned in my earlier post, I have already filed a PR for the dev team to investigate the mylyn issue. I shall get back to you when I have more on this.
