Is there a way to configure MyEclips/Eclipse so that a log file is created of the output in the console window? It would help me to debug.

That is a great question, AFAIKT the answer is no, but that would be a cool feature. If you had the time you could file it with the Eclipse platform team and see if they would sneak that in (maybe someone else filed it already?)
